Employment Law Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks an experienced Employment Law Attorney to join their team at their downtown Sioux City office. This position offers the opportunity to lead the firm's employment law practice, advising clients on a wide range of employment issues. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in employment law, with a focus on helping businesses create effective policies, strategies, and solutions that foster a productive and compliant workforce.

Duties

• Provide legal counsel to businesses on a variety of employment law matters, including compliance, employee relations, and workplace policies.
• Draft, review, and update employee handbooks, workplace policies, and other essential employment documents.
• Advise clients on employment-related issues such as discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour laws, and employee benefits.
• Represent clients in employment disputes, including litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
• Develop strategies for resolving employment law issues while minimizing risks and maximizing business efficiency.
• Stay informed about developments in employment law and ensure clients are kept up to date with relevant legal changes.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and departments within the firm to address complex employment-related issues.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in employment law, including both advisory and litigation experience.
• Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws, including wage and hour, discrimination, and employee benefits regulations.
• Proven ability to handle complex legal matters with business-oriented solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic, solution-focused mindset.
• Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Iowa.

• Expertise in employment law, including legal research, compliance, and litigation.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong drafting skills for employment-related documents and contracts.
• Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical, business-driven solutions.
