A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to support its expanding Intellectual Property practice. This role involves close collaboration with patent counsel and attorneys across disciplines, primarily focused on the life sciences sector. The position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge innovations and contribute to strategic patent portfolio development.

Location

• West Palm Beach, FL

Duties

• Evaluate the patentability of innovations across multiple technology areas

• Prepare, draft, and file U.S. patent applications

• Prosecute U.S. patent applications and coordinate with international counsel for global prosecution

• Support intellectual property due diligence efforts

• Assist in the strategic management of patent portfolios

• Conduct legal and technical research on patent and IP-related matters

• Collaborate with legal teams, clients, and internal business units on IP strategy

• Serve as a liaison for interdepartmental projects and regularly interface with outside counsel

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm or in-house setting

• Focus on biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices

• Familiarity with patent strategy and international IP law processes

Education

• Ph.D. in a life sciences discipline (e.g., biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field)

Certifications

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), or eligibility to sit for the Patent Bar in the near term

Skills

• Strong background in life sciences technologies

• Experience with mechanical or electrical patent prosecution is a plus

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Proven ability to work in a collaborative, team-focused environment
