Job Overview

A prominent national law firm is actively seeking a Litigation Associate with 4 to 7 years of experience to join its Insurance & Reinsurance Litigation Practice Group. This practice is nationally recognized for handling high-exposure coverage disputes and complex reinsurance claims on behalf of insurers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance coverage litigation, excellent legal writing and research skills, and a demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a collaborative legal team.

Location

• Virginia Beach, VA

Duties

• Handle a broad range of insurance and reinsurance litigation matters

• Analyze coverage issues related to:

  • Professional liability policies

  • General liability policies

  • Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance

• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions

• Manage discovery and discovery-related motion practice

• Conduct and defend depositions

• Represent clients at hearings and court appearances (based on experience level)

• Engage in client communication and assist with business development initiatives

• Independently manage case files with minimal supervision

Requirements

• 4 to 7 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation

• Experience handling pleadings, motions, depositions, and discovery

• Familiarity with complex coverage analysis and insurer-side litigation

• Business development and client management experience is preferred

• Ability to handle a busy caseload with attention to detail and responsiveness

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills
