Job Overview

A law firm located in Reston, VA is seeking a junior to mid-level associate to join its Structured Finance team. This hybrid role is best suited for a legal professional with prior experience in derivatives and structured finance transactions. The position offers exposure to high-level transactional work, including drafting and negotiation of complex agreements and regulatory compliance.

Duties

• Assist in structuring and executing finance transactions involving derivatives

• Draft and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, including related schedules, annexes, and confirmations

• Interpret and apply regulatory frameworks, including Dodd-Frank and ISDA protocols

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to support structured finance and derivative matters

• Conduct legal research and analysis on finance-related issues

• Communicate complex legal concepts clearly in written and verbal form

• Manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment

• Participate in client calls and meetings as necessary

• Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with firm policies

• Contribute to knowledge sharing and mentoring junior team members when needed

Requirements

• 3-5 years of relevant experience handling structured finance and derivative transactions

• Familiarity with ISDA documentation and regulatory addendums

• Prior experience in an AmLaw 100 or comparable law firm setting preferred

• Admitted to the Bar and in good standing in Virginia, or eligible for waiver

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active Bar license in Virginia (or eligibility for admission)
