Position Purpose
What’s the role –
In the Shell Safety Environment and Asset Management (SEAM) team, our aspiration is for excellence in supporting assets to safely deliver their Fit for the Future aspirations. The SEAM team is currently seeking a Regional Turnaround Assurance Manager to providing turnaround assurance and support to operating assets in their respective region. This includes a regional accountability for turnaround performance and skill pool health.
Accountabilities:
Assist the asset turnaround leadership team to understand their gap to potential and provide technical expertise and insight to enable turnaround teams to build and deliver effective improvement plans to achieve the desired performance
Partner with other maintenance, reliability and turnaround leads to maintain a connected community of turnaround practitioners through the Shell Asset Management System networks that includes the sharing of recommended practices and the fast replication of improvements within the region
Work with the asset team to set the appropriate turnaround event assurance plans and build these into the service plan for the asset/region ensuring activities are planned and resourced
Providing support, upon request, for the implementation of the Shell Perform Turnarounds Standard, Manual, and recommended practices through deployment of both process as well as technical and discipline support
Deliver turnaround event Assurance activities as defined by the event assurance plans
Support/co-deliver other work process assurance reviews as required
Partner with Shell Asset Support Managers, Excellence Leads, other support groups and 3rd Parties to drive performance improvement, provide input/support to the Asset Business Planning process
Provide turnaround operations excellence and flawless expertise towards integrated turnaround delivery
Champion turnaround operations through best practice sharing in the region and across regions
Advocate use of available technology and tools in the Global Technology Catalogue to reduce safety risk, cost, and schedule of Maintenance and/or Turnaround activities.
Providing coaching and mentoring support for regional SPO, SPFP and Turnaround practitioners.
Support the Shell Global Discipline Head (GDH) in identifying suitable focal points and turnaround practitioners in the asset by helping to validate the required competencies for the role.
Work with functional leads and discipline heads to support the Operating Assets to develop & maintain capability and capacity to execute the Perform Turnarounds Standard, Manual and Recommended Practices.
Facilitate learning from involved expertise, including 3rd parties, to improve assurance quality.
Championing the use of technology applications to improve competitive position “Safer, Fewer, Faster and Cheaper”
Skills & Requirements
What we need from you –
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
Engineering degree or equivalent level of experience in maintenance, engineering, turnaround or project environment
15-20 years of relevant experience including 5-10 years in managing and delivering safe, reliable and competitive turnaround events
Ability to develop all turnaround support elements and mechanisms
Ability to plan and execute turnaround events
Contracting and procurement processes knowledge
Cost controls and cost management capabilities
Operational shutdown/decontamination/start-up procedural knowledge
Experience in implementing and sustaining change
Ability to intervene and facilitate workshops to a variety of stakeholders across the organization
Interpersonal effectiveness combined with the ability to motivate, coach and develop others skill
Combined experience in an Asset, Maintenance, Operations, Project, or Functional role preferred
