Profile

Summary

This position will assist immigration attorneys, providing quality service to clients relating to various aspects of immigration.

Responsibilities

Communicate with clients

Conduct legal research

Draft legal documents and correspondence for attorney review

Review and proof documents

Investigate facts and obtain evidence from clients to help with the legal strategy and case development

Translate or coordinate translation of documents written in a foreign language

Research the availability of, and then obtain, documents from foreign countries, including visas and passports

Prepare and monitor application packets for submission with proper government agency

Prepare labor certification applications, and a variety of business immigration filings with both consular posts and USCIS (e.g., E, L, TN, Adjustment of Status, Immigrant Visa)

Write and research for EB-1 petitions, specialty occupation H-1Bs, and draft waiver applications and responses to requests for evidence for attorney review

Evaluate the equivalency of foreign degrees

Coordinate paperwork related to papers for immigration or citizenship, including affidavits, petitions, applications

Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations

Managing large volume of clients, tracking status of filings and documentation needed

Record and store client information in an organized manner

Calendar deadlines and reminders

Qualifications

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word, Outlook and Excel)

Previous experience as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate environment

Familiarity with legal research

Ability to prioritize and multitask

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Deadline and detail-oriented

Able to handle high volume and fast pace with accuracy
