A law firm is looking to welcome a proactive Bankruptcy Attorney to its Allen Park team to assist clients facing financial turmoil. This opportunity is suited for a licensed Michigan attorney who brings experience in managing insolvency matters and who thrives on helping individuals regain financial stability through sound legal strategy and advocacy.
Counsel individuals and families on debt-relief pathways under both state and federal financial statutes.
Oversee client files from intake through discharge, handling everything from initial interviews to court appearances and trustee meetings.
Prepare and submit case documentation, including legal petitions, repayment plans, financial statements, and creditor communication.
Represent clients in negotiations and hearings, ensuring their interests are protected and voiced effectively.
Interpret complex financial disclosures to tailor appropriate strategies for Chapter 7, 11, or 13 proceedings.
Keep up with changes in relevant law and court rulings to provide up-to-date guidance and representation.
Coordinate with staff and legal assistants to maintain accuracy and efficiency in case preparation and filing.
1 to 6 years of legal experience focused on bankruptcy, debt restructuring, or financial hardship representation.
Demonstrated ability to manage a case portfolio autonomously while navigating shifting deadlines and complex court procedures.
Excellent communication—both written and verbal—with the ability to explain financial legal concepts in client-friendly terms.
Familiarity with federal bankruptcy courts, Michigan’s procedural rules, and electronic filing systems.
Strong client service orientation with a problem-solving mindset.
Comfortable handling sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a recognized and accredited law school.
Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Michigan.
Additional training or certifications in bankruptcy law, consumer debt counseling, or financial law would be a plus.
