Job Overview:
A law firm based in New York City is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated litigator with experience in plaintiff-side medical malpractice and personal injury matters. This position presents a long-term professional growth opportunity for someone with a background in medical litigation, ideally with prior exposure to healthcare or nursing concepts. The role includes engaging in complex discovery, depositions of medical professionals, and collaboration with expert witnesses. A desire to grow into trial advocacy is encouraged. The role also entails leading paralegals and contributing meaningfully to the representation of clients affected by negligence.

Duties:

• Handle litigation related to medical malpractice and personal injury claims on behalf of plaintiffs

• Analyze and interpret medical records and prepare for depositions, particularly of medical professionals

• Participate in court appearances, motion practice, and negotiation of settlements

• Coordinate with expert witnesses and medical consultants to support litigation strategy

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of case law, procedural rules, and industry developments

• Provide leadership to support staff and ensure efficient file progression

• Contribute to the firm’s mission of obtaining meaningful redress for injured individuals

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of legal experience in medical malpractice or related personal injury litigation

• Background in or familiarity with healthcare, nursing, or medical terminology

• Prior exposure to defense-side malpractice is welcomed if accompanied by a desire to litigate on behalf of plaintiffs

• Demonstrated ability to manage discovery, evaluate liability, and coordinate litigation strategy

• Commitment to client advocacy and outcome-focused litigation

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active and good-standing member of the New York State Bar

Skills:

• Strong writing, legal research, and analytical skills

• Clear and persuasive oral advocacy abilities

• High degree of initiative and ability to work independently

• Strong organizational and case management proficiency

• Capable of mentoring and directing paralegal team members
