A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their team in Shelton, CT. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and responsibilities:

 

Job Overview:

  • Handle civil litigation matters with a focus on personal injury cases.
  • Conduct court appearances and depositions.
  • Recent law school graduates with a specific interest in civil litigation and trial practice are encouraged to apply.

 

Duties:

  • Assist with all aspects of civil litigation, including case preparation, discovery, motion practice, and trial.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and other proceedings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Assist senior attorneys with case management and strategy.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Connecticut State Bar or eligibility for admission by examination or reciprocity.
  • 0-3 years of experience in personal injury litigation (plaintiff or defense).
  • Strong academic credentials with an emphasis on writing skills.
  • Specific interest in civil litigation and trial practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Connecticut State Bar or eligibility for admission.

 

Skills:

  • Familiarity with civil litigation procedures and rules.
  • Ability to conduct legal research efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong writing skills, including drafting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Comfortable with court appearances and depositions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
