A law firm seeks a junior to mid-level Patent Agent to join its medical device practice in Boston. The role involves working with clients from various industries across the country, collaborating with attorneys on a global platform. The position requires residence in the Boston office.

Duties

• Collaborate with clients to identify innovation and design strategies for patent protection.
• Draft and prosecute patent applications related to medical devices and diagnostics.
• Manage complex patent prosecution dockets.
• Conduct patent landscape analysis and freedom to operate assessments.
• Advise clients regarding patentability, validity, and infringement.
• Perform IP due diligence in connection with VC investments and mergers and acquisitions.

Requirements

• 1-4 years of experience with U.S. and foreign patent prosecution and counseling related to medical technologies.
• Prior firm experience is required.
• Strong technical background in biomedical, mechanical, robotics, electrical/computer engineering, or equivalent discipline.
• Excellent academic record.
• Superior organizational and communication skills.
• Creative and strategic approach to prosecution.

Education

• Admitted to the patent bar.

Certifications

• Admitted to the Massachusetts Bar or eligible for admission.
