A leading civil litigation firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Toxic Tort & General Litigation team in Chicago. This full-time role involves managing all aspects of complex litigation, with a focus on toxic torts. Location:

• Chicago, Illinois

Duties:

• Represent clients in court, including hearings, status calls, pretrials, and trials

• Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, settlement agreements, and related legal documents

• Conduct legal research and draft supporting briefs

• Manage all aspects of written discovery

• Prepare for and conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

• Participate in mediations and negotiations

• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court

• Draft litigation evaluations, case summaries, and updates for internal and client reporting

• Collaborate with attorneys on case strategy and process improvements

• Defend general and complex tort cases on both a local and national scale

Requirements:

• 3–4 years of general litigation experience (required)

• 3–4 years of toxic tort litigation experience (required)

• 2 years of trial preparation experience (required)

• Experience in deposition and discovery preferred

• Background in personal injury, environmental law, or product liability (preferred)

• Clerkship or experience at a peer law firm (preferred)

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in Illinois (required)

• Additional state bar admissions a plus

Skills:

• Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills

• Strong legal research and analytical abilities

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Highly organized and capable of managing multiple deadlines and priorities

• Strong interpersonal skills and client-focused communication

• Team-oriented, with initiative and attention to detail
