Senior Director, Public Policy
The candidate will manage Rapid7's public policy program globally and advancing Rapid7's business interest. Report to the Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Director of Public Policy will build the team and set the strategy, representing Rapid7's position on policy, regulations and laws. Advise internal and external stakeholders on regulatory developments. Will develop and communicate Rapid7's policy and regulatory positions through writing, presentations, and meetings. Lead and enhance Rapid7's global public policy and government affairs activities. This includes setting a programmatic strategy, managing a budget, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Advocate for balanced but effective cybersecurity laws and policies, advise internal and external stakeholders on regulatory developments, and advance Rapid7's business interests. Represent Rapid7's policy priorities before government agencies on global tech issues, including but not limited to cybersecurity and privacy. Draft agency comments, testimony, internal memoranda, talking points, blog posts, and public-facing briefs on policy and regulatory issues. Work closely with technical experts, provide timely responses and thought leadership on global legislative and regulatory proposals. Advise internal teams on global regulatory and policy issues affecting the company and customer base. Track regulatory proposals and other government activity, ensuring appropriate engagement and keeping Rapid7 teams informed. Manage relationships with the security community, trade associations, civil society organizations, and other companies. Build and participate in coalitions of organizations collaborating on policy issues. Develop a strong network of contacts across government and help educate them on cybersecurity issues, as well as help facilitate partnerships and information sharing with Rapid7. Communicate Rapid7's policy policy positions publicly through press, conferences, op-eds, social media, and other public speaking. Law degree is strongly preferred. Should have 5-10 years of applicable experience, including working on technology policy. Preference for experience with cybersecurity policy, government service, and/or corporate government relations experience globally.
