Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm located in Norfolk, VA, is seeking an Associate Attorney to support its Creditors’ Rights division. This role involves representing clients in court proceedings within the state of Maryland. The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in Maryland and possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and advocacy skills. While the position allows for remote work, travel for court appearances is expected. This opportunity is open to recent graduates who have passed the bar and are seeking to launch their legal careers in a focused and supportive setting.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in Maryland courts for matters related to creditors’ rights

  • Prepare for and attend hearings, motions, and other court appearances

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents relevant to litigation and collections

  • Analyze real estate, title, bankruptcy, or debt collection issues (as applicable)

  • Communicate effectively with clients, courts, and opposing counsel

  • Utilize case management software and legal technology tools

  • Maintain compliance with ethical obligations and professional standards

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in Maryland

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly for court appearances across Maryland

  • Availability for full-time work on a standard Monday–Friday schedule

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in Maryland (required)

  • Admission in Virginia and/or North Carolina (preferred)

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities

  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Professional demeanor with the ability to collaborate effectively

  • Familiarity with real estate law, title, bankruptcy, or collections (preferred)

  • Courtroom or litigation experience, including motion practice and trials, is a plus

  • Proficiency with legal technology and digital workflow tools

Job Location:

  • Norfolk, VA

  • Remote work permitted, with travel throughout Maryland required for court obligations
