Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a dedicated and community-focused Associate Attorney to join its practice in Longview, Texas. Duties:

  • Manage a portfolio of cases involving delinquent property tax collections for municipal clients.
  • Represent local governments in court proceedings, negotiations, and settlement discussions.
  • Advise municipal clients on legal strategies to enhance tax collections and ensure statutory compliance.
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and correspondence.
  • Collaborate closely with local officials, community leaders, and firm colleagues to deliver effective legal solutions.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategy and provide informed counsel to clients.
  • Attend hearings, trials, mediations, and client meetings as needed.
  • Maintain accurate case files and document client interactions in compliance with firm policies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of legal experience (experience in local government law, property tax, or municipal collections preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple matters concurrently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust-based relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Skilled negotiator with the ability to pursue favorable resolutions for municipal clients.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a strong sense of professional responsibility and client service.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Texas, in good standing.

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills.
  • Effective oral communication in legal proceedings and client meetings.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Legal research and case analysis.
  • Time management and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal research platforms.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
