A prominent U.S. law firm is seeking a Privacy Counsel with 3–7 years of experience to join its Data Protection, Privacy, and Cybersecurity practice group. This opportunity is ideal for attorneys with strong knowledge of U.S. privacy frameworks and international regulations such as the GDPR, who enjoy proactive privacy counseling and client advisory work. The role will involve advising on compliance strategies, privacy program implementation, and regulatory investigations across a broad range of industries.

Advise clients on compliance with federal, state, and international privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, COPPA, TCPA, GDPR, FTC Act)
Develop and implement privacy compliance programs, policies, and risk mitigation strategies
Provide counsel on cross-border data transfers and international data flow regulations
Draft and negotiate data protection agreements and vendor contracts
Counsel clients on digital product development, AI, big data, and emerging technologies
Assist in regulatory investigations and respond to enforcement actions
Support privacy due diligence in M&A and corporate transactions
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams during incident response and tabletop exercises
Advise on consent frameworks, privacy notices, and data governance policies
Participate in privacy readiness and harmonization efforts across jurisdictions
3–7 years of legal experience with a focus on privacy law
In-depth understanding of U.S. state and federal privacy statutes; GDPR knowledge preferred
Demonstrated ability to independently manage client relationships and complex matters
Experience with privacy program audits and regulatory inquiries
Law firm background preferred; strong in-house experience also considered
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction
CIPP/US, CIPT, or similar certification (preferred)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong contract drafting and negotiation abilities
Proficiency in legal research and data governance principles
Ability to work collaboratively with legal, technical, and business stakeholders
Adaptability to evolving privacy landscapes and technologies
