Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Partner specializing in General Liability and Insurance Defense in Charlotte, NC. This role involves leading complex civil litigation cases, providing strategic legal counsel, and representing clients in various legal settings.

Duties

• Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Meet an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.
• Represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare for and attend trials.
• Travel as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10+ years of civil litigation experience with an emphasis in insurance defense.
• Experience handling civil cases from inception to resolution.
• Proficiency in taking and defending depositions, including 30(b)(6) and expert depositions.
• Experience drafting and arguing substantive motions, attending hearings, and trials.
• Participation in negotiations and mediations.
• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admitted to practice in NC or SC; other states a plus.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong research, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to self-manage and work in a team environment.
• Prompt response to email and phone inquiries.
• Excellent client skills and telephone manner.

Education

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in NC or SC; other states a plus.
