Job Overview

A law firm seeks a talented Litigation Attorney with 4-8 years of experience to join their growing litigation practice in New Bern, NC. The ideal candidate will have experience in general business litigation, eminent domain, and real estate litigation.

Duties

  • Represent business and property-owner clients in a broad range of disputes from pre-suit strategy through trial.
  • Take ownership of matters and collaborate with partners and clients on case strategy, discovery, motion practice, negotiation, and trial.
  • Handle complex contract and commercial tort disputes, real property rights and title issues, and condemnation/eminent domain proceedings.
  • Draft pleadings and dispositive motions; manage written discovery and depositions.
  • Work with experts and develop valuation and damages theories.
  • Prepare for and conduct hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Advise clients on risk mitigation, settlement options, and litigation strategy.
  • Contribute to business development and firm marketing efforts through web articles, presentations, and industry engagement.

Requirements

  • Solid foundation in civil procedure and evidence.
  • Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Sound judgment under pressure.
  • Hands-on experience with business disputes, eminent domain, and real estate litigation.
  • Experience managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and appearing in court.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Good standing with the North Carolina Bar preferred; candidates eligible for transfer admission in North Carolina considered.
