Position Overview

We are looking for an Associate Attorney with at least three years of relevant legal experience to support our estate planning and elder law practice. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in Medicaid and other government programs related to long-term care and disability planning. Experience in probate and trust administration—as well as guardianship and conservatorship proceedings in probate court—is essential. We are also open to expanding our focus for the right candidate with a complementary background.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and review comprehensive estate planning documents for individuals and couples, including those with long-term care considerations
• Counsel clients on elder law issues, including Medicaid planning and other public benefits
• Represent clients in guardianship and conservatorship cases in probate court
• Manage probate and trust administration matters from start to finish
• Conduct client consultations and maintain strong ongoing relationships
• Stay up to date with changes in relevant state and federal laws

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Michigan
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estate planning and elder law
• Strong knowledge of Medicaid planning, long-term care planning, and government benefit programs.
• Experience with probate and trust administration, and probate court proceedings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
