Job Overview

A leading national law firm is seeking a highly qualified Insurance & Reinsurance Litigation Associate with 4–7 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation. This position is available in any office location across the United States. The successful candidate will join a practice group recognized for handling high-exposure insurance and reinsurance disputes. This is an opportunity to work on complex matters involving professional liability, general liability, and D&O insurance policies.

Location

• Richmond, VA

Duties

• Analyze and handle insurance coverage disputes under various policies (professional liability, general liability, D&O)

• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and related litigation documents

• Manage all aspects of discovery, including motion practice and depositions

• Represent clients in court proceedings (as aligned with experience level)

• Participate in business development activities and client relationship management

• Manage caseload independently, with support from senior partners and team members

• Provide legal guidance on complex coverage and reinsurance issues

Requirements

• 4–7 years of relevant commercial litigation and insurance coverage experience

• Demonstrated ability to handle discovery, depositions, and court appearances

• Experience managing cases and clients independently is strongly preferred

• Familiarity with high-exposure litigation and complex insurance claims

• Comfortable working both autonomously and within a team structure

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

• Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

• Ability to gain admission in additional states as needed
