A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join the State and Local Tax practice group in New York, NY. This role involves strategic expansion into California's complex tax market, ideal for a practitioner with California experience and a growth mindset.

Duties

• Establish and lead the firm's California SALT offerings, including local market strategy and growth initiatives.
• Deepen relationships with referral sources, financial advisors, and institutional clients in California.
• Advise clients on complex California residency and domicile issues.
• Provide strategic planning related to relocations, liquidity events, and exits from California.
• Counsel multistate businesses on nexus, apportionment, and compliance issues involving California.
• Represent clients in audits, administrative appeals, and litigations before tax authorities and courts.
• Collaborate with national practices to drive cross-selling and integrated client solutions.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop associates and counsel within the SALT practice group.

Requirements

• Admission to the California State Bar is required.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other practice areas.

Education
