Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate for its Debt Finance Practice in New York. The role involves advising clients on debt-related transactions, including syndicated loans, leveraged buyouts, and refinancing. The successful candidate will assist in negotiating and drafting loan agreements and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Duties

• Draft and negotiate commitment letters, term sheets, and loan documentation.
• Prepare and review issues lists and summary grids.
• Conduct legal research as needed.
• Manage deal teams and processes from initiation to post-closing.
• Conduct due diligence and serve as the primary client contact.
• Assist with ongoing deal administration and client inquiries.
• Support senior lawyers in daily legal services.
• Attend and present at educational seminars.
• Mentor junior team members and participate in client development initiatives.

Requirements

• At least four years of debt finance experience.
• Experience in sponsored finance, syndicated lending, or leveraged finance preferred.
• Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity.
• Project management experience and commercial acumen.
• Outstanding communication and drafting skills.
• Strong time management and ability to handle multiple projects.
• Client service focus and team player mentality.
• Admitted to the bar and in good standing.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

• Bar admission in good standing.
