Profile

Smith Sovik is a pure litigation boutique that boasts more than 30 trial and appellate lawyers. We are engaged in a diverse and exciting practice. We try cases in state and federal courts everywhere in New York State. In addition to defending individuals, corporations, municipalities and other businesses, we represent individuals who have been injured as a result of the negligence of others. We have been recognized annually by Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America and US News & World Report as a premiere litigation firm. This year, 20 Smith Sovik lawyers were recognized by Super Lawyers magazine. Our managing partner, Kevin Hulslander, was the only lawyer from Syracuse to be named to Super Lawyers list of the Top 10 lawyers in Upstate New York, and four of our partners were named to Super Lawyers Top 50 list.

As part of our continued growth, we are implementing a new recruiting program aimed at aggressively pursuing highly-motivated law students who will succeed in the fast-paced and collegial atmosphere of our Syracuse, Buffalo, Long Island and White Plains offices. Our new recruiting program features a significantly increased salary for first-year associates and summer associates, which will complement our highly-competitive benefits package and unique incentive-based bonus structure.

Unlike most large and medium-sized firms, Smith Sovik provides all associates with the opportunity to immediately develop robust litigation skills—both outside and inside the courtroom. Our associates experience the real working life of a litigator. If you are interested in applying to the firm, please contact our Hiring Partner, Karen Felter, at [email protected]
