Duties

• Lead and expand the insurance defense and coverage practice in the Syracuse office.
• Handle all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, discovery, and trial preparation.
• Represent insurers and insureds in complex insurance defense matters and coverage disputes.
• Appear in court, take and defend depositions, and participate in mediations and arbitrations.
• Provide strategic guidance on risk assessment and litigation strategy.
• Independently manage a diverse litigation caseload.
• Mentor and supervise associates in the Syracuse office.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and practice growth.
• Stay current on developments in insurance law and litigation strategy.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to the New York State Bar.
• 10+ years of litigation experience, with a focus on insurance defense and coverage.
• Ability to independently manage complex litigation matters.
• Leadership experience or ability to build and guide a practice team preferred.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and technology.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
