Lead Counsel I, Financial Regulatory Compliance
The candidate will provide legal advice, guidance, and support to various stakeholders on emerging legal and regulatory matters that impact Financial Services business. Support related business strategies such as, innovations in financial services products and nuanced product offerings. Support other legal teams and businesses on interesting and innovative customer facing solutions, as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate legal and compliance risk. Represent in applicable regulatory matters, work with outside counsel on complex matters and interact with relevant government agencies and regulatory bodies. Providing legal advice and counsel to the company to enhance and maintain initiatives on a range of legal, business and compliance matters, focused on the company’s fast developing financial services products. Represent the business with regulatory agencies. Being familiar with financial services and fintech environment, eCommerce, and regulatory compliance programs including experience with U. S. federal and state regulatory regimes in regulatory areas related to eCommerce and financial services platforms such MTL’s, MCA’s, and other unregulated loan practices. Identify, prioritize, and manage risks to the company by engaging and assisting in research and drafting of presentations on legal issues. Review and advise on agreements with various parties to ensure regulatory compliance with legal, contractual, and corporate requirements. Manage outside counsel. Proactively identify risk and developing mitigation programs and strategies. Assist on commenting and shaping regulatory developments at key agencies. Law degree from an accredited law school and 6+ years’ experience in law. Should have 2+ years’ experience leading cross-functional teams. Should have 7+ years. prior experience in relevant regulatory matters and business compliance programs, in government, in-house, or private practice, particularly related to traditional finance and foundations of lending as well as fintech platforms. Should be driven to execute and to act quickly. Should be process-minded and look for opportunities to streamline for improved efficiency and effectiveness. Should have strong communication skills and experience with senior leadership and stakeholders. Should enjoy successfully working on cross-functional teams within a corporate environment.
