A distinguished Pacific Northwest-based law firm is seeking a full-time Biotechnology and/or Pharmaceutical Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property team. This role is best suited for candidates with a strong background in the life sciences and experience in patent prosecution. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with innovative clients across the healthcare and biotechnology sectors while being based in one of the firm’s key offices in Oregon or Washington.

Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields
Advise clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, and intellectual property protection
Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and invalidity analyses
Draft legal opinions related to patent matters
Collaborate with cross-office teams and clients on technical IP issues
Participate in client counseling and long-term strategic planning
Minimum of 2 years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical patent prosecution
Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently while working in a team-based environment
Exceptional writing and communication skills
Strong client service orientation
Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a life sciences discipline, such as:
Biology
Biochemistry
Immunology
Molecular and Cellular Biology
USPTO registration required (for all candidates)
Excellent academic credentials and professional references
Strong drafting and analytical capabilities
Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Proactive and accountable in managing deadlines and workload
Comfortable working directly with clients and internal teams
