The role involves managing a diverse USCIS caseload, conducting FOIA reviews, preparing clients for interviews, and ensuring accurate and timely filings.

Duties

  • Assess relief eligibility and develop case strategies for USCIS matters.
  • Manage a caseload including family-based petitions, U Visas, VAWA, TPS, N-400, I-90, and FOIA reviews.
  • Review and approve filings prior to submission.
  • Review 10-15 FOIAs weekly and prepare detailed assessments.
  • Review CAL DOJ and FBI FOIAs to determine the impact of criminal history on immigration relief.
  • Draft immigration declarations and supporting documents for motions to vacate.
  • Prepare clients for USCIS interviews.
  • Lead, guide, and mentor paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and cases move efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain excellent case management and communication.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. state (California preferred).
  • 1-3 years of immigration law experience.
  • FOIA review experience preferred.
  • Previous immigration experience as a legal assistant or paralegal strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proficient with electronic case management systems.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A dependable laptop or desktop (8GB RAM minimum, Core i5 or higher) paired with a stable 10 Mbps connection.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.
