A law firm seeks a highly motivated mid-level IP Patent Associate in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in patent law, including litigation, prosecution, client counseling, licensing, and portfolio management. Duties

• Handle patent litigation in federal district courts and appeals at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
• Manage post-grant proceedings such as ex parte reexaminations and inter partes review.
• Supervise and guide patent agents in prosecuting patent applications.
• Collaborate with partners and clients to develop litigation strategies and conduct discovery.
• Advise clients on complex IP strategy, risk management, and enforcement issues.
• Stay informed on developments in patent law and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-6 years of law firm experience; more experienced candidates are welcome.
• Admitted to practice before at least one state court and the USPTO.
• Strong command of federal patent litigation, PTAB proceedings, and patent examination rules.
• Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Top academic credentials and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with other IP matters is a plus.

Education

• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice before the USPTO.
