Litigation Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeking a Litigation Attorney in Troy, MI. The Litigation Attorney will be responsible for performing legal research, drafting motions and pleadings, arguing motions, taking and defending depositions, managing discovery-related activities, preparing cases for trial, and drafting various legal documents. The role requires excellent analytical and writing skills, strong organizational abilities, multitasking capabilities, and a commitment to client service and practice development.

Duties:

• Perform legal research.
• Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal memoranda.
• Argue motions.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Manage discovery-related activities and investigations.
• Prepare cases for trial.
• Draft position statements, employee handbooks, employee policies, etc.
• Develop and maintain client relationships.
• Handle routine court appearances such as scheduling conferences and discovery motions.
• Engage in high-level substantive appearances including dispositive motions, depositions, trial, and mediation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor degree.
• Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Michigan (or licensed in a reciprocal jurisdiction and able to quickly become licensed in Michigan).
• Possessing an undergraduate degree in a STEM field is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and writing skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask effectively.
• Passion for client service and practice development.
• Prior experience with routine court appearances (scheduling conferences and discovery motions) is required.
• Prior experience with high-level substantive appearances (dispositive motions, depositions, trial, and mediation) is highly desired.
• Excellent academic record (e.g., top 25% of law school class).
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: employment law, commercial law, shareholder disputes, and intellectual property law.

Experience:

6+ years of litigation experience.
