Job Overview

A law firm seeks a National Security and Global Trade Associate in Los Angeles, CA. This role is ideal for a 3rd-4th year associate with experience in U.S. economic sanctions, export controls, CFIUS, and national security issues in corporate and financial transactions.

Duties

• Advise clients on U.S. economic sanctions, including compliance and risk assessments.
• Counsel on export controls under EAR and ITAR.
• Support CFIUS and national security reviews, including transaction structuring and filings.
• Conduct diligence in mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.
• Draft and review compliance policies and contractual provisions.
• Assist with internal investigations and government inquiries.
• Collaborate with colleagues on multidisciplinary matters.

Requirements

• 3-4 years of relevant experience in international trade, sanctions, export controls, or national security.
• Experience with transactions involving trade or national security considerations.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of application.
