Job Title: Family Law Litigation Attorney

Job Overview:

A Charleston, SC-based law firm is seeking a driven and compassionate Family Law Litigation Attorney to join its legal team. This position focuses on representing individuals during complex family law disputes and transitions, including divorce, child custody, and asset division. The role involves direct client advocacy, litigation strategy, and collaboration with a skilled legal support team in a mission-driven environment.

Duties:

• Advocate for clients in family-related legal proceedings, including dissolution of marriage, custody, parenting plans, and alimony disputes

• Prepare court filings such as motions, petitions, settlement agreements, and memoranda

• Represent clients in hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials

• Advise clients on legal rights and responsibilities throughout the legal process

• Conduct legal research to stay current with statutory updates and evolving case law

• Collaborate closely with paralegals, administrative personnel, and fellow attorneys to ensure seamless case flow and client service

• Develop legal strategies aligned with each client’s unique circumstances and goals

Requirements:

• Active license to practice law in South Carolina

• Minimum of 2 years of focused litigation experience in domestic or family law matters

• Proven ability to manage a significant caseload while delivering high-quality legal services

• Demonstrated courtroom experience, including direct and cross-examinations, and oral arguments

• Client-focused mindset with strong interpersonal communication and conflict-resolution skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law institution

Certifications:

• Member in good standing with the South Carolina State Bar

Skills:

• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills

• Confidence in managing contested matters through litigation

• Ability to maintain professionalism and empathy under pressure

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational habits

• Proficiency with legal case management software and digital research platforms
