Insurance Regulatory Administrator, Legal & Regulatory
Duties: Maintain appropriate service levels to Markel by preparing regulatory filings which allow to conduct insurance business through its affiliates in any U.S. (or non-U.S.) jurisdiction; ensure compliance with applicable insurance laws and regulations and with internal policies and procedures; and develop and maintain familiarity with applicable laws, regulations and court rulings to assist the Company in achieving corporate objectives. Timely coordinate process and file U.S. regulatory filings in order to uphold a license, approval or qualification for Markel’s insurance companies and agents/agencies so the companies can conduct insurance business in any jurisdiction desired. Work in partnership with others in the Legal Department and throughout Markel to collect the required information or data needed to complete all state filings, maintain all internal databases of the required filings and complete work to ensure compliance with external regulatory standards. Coordinate accurate and timely responses to state inquiries or requests for information from a regulatory authority regarding state filings. Timely process biographical affidavits, fingerprint and background investigations, trade name approvals, invoices including any legal fees or other non-legal invoices, and all incoming mail. Implement/validate consistent compliance with the law by monitoring regulatory and legal developments, supporting solvency safeguards and dispersing vital documents to assist Markel in preserving integrity and delivering superior service. Accurately/thoroughly research regulatory issues in designated states requested by Markel personnel to ensure compliance; recommend action plans and assist in implementation of regulatory and legal changes whether they affect procedures, processes or documents. Support monitoring of E&O claims, consumer complaints, disaster and OFAC reporting ; participate in assigned special projects or requests and complete assigned work within agreed upon timeframe and specified guidelines. Maintain the integrity of internal or external databases and preserve the confidentiality of all documentations; engage in training and provide backup to other Legal Department associates as needed.
