Job Overview:
A highly regarded law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Energy, Telecommunications, and Utilities (ETU) practice group, a focused subgroup of the broader Environmental, Energy & Natural Resources (EENR) team. This position is based in Denver, Colorado, and involves advising clients on federal and state regulatory matters, administrative proceedings, and complex legal issues involving electric and gas utilities, pipelines, and nonutility energy providers. Ideal for attorneys early in their career who are eager to work on challenging regulatory and litigation matters within a supportive, collaborative, and mission-driven team.
Location:

Duties:
Represent clients in federal and state regulatory proceedings involving public utilities
Assist clients with complex legal and business issues impacting energy services
Draft legal documents including regulatory filings, motions, and memoranda
Research and analyze statutes, administrative regulations, and case law
Collaborate with partners and other team members in delivering practical, business-focused legal advice
Participate in public utility litigation and administrative hearings
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and internal legal teams
Requirements:
0 to 3 years of legal experience
Interest or experience in public utility regulation (electric, gas, pipeline, or telecommunications preferred)
Demonstrated legal research, writing, and problem-solving capabilities
High attention to detail and a proactive, collaborative work style
Judicial clerkship experience is a plus
References will be required during the selection process
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
Background in business, finance, accounting, or engineering is preferred
Certifications:
Admission to the Colorado Bar, or eligibility to obtain admission in the near future
Skills:
Legal analysis and regulatory interpretation
Strong legal writing and oral communication
Understanding of utility industry structures and regulatory frameworks
Critical thinking and efficient issue-spotting
