Job Overview:
A reputable California-based law firm is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join its legal team. The ideal candidate will have 2–15 years of experience in handling all aspects of workers’ compensation defense and be well-versed in California labor and insurance laws. Duties:
Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in workers’ compensation matters
Manage a caseload of workers’ compensation claims from inception to resolution
Conduct depositions, hearings, and trials as needed
Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements
Provide legal analysis, strategy development, and risk assessments to clients
Utilize case management systems such as MerusCase
Maintain effective communication with clients, opposing counsel, and internal team members
Requirements:
2 to 15 years of experience practicing workers’ compensation law in California
Proven litigation and trial experience in workers’ compensation defense
Familiarity with representing both large corporations and small business clients
Ability to manage cases independently and meet deadlines
Comfortable working remotely or in a hybrid model
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active member of the California State Bar in good standing
Skills:
Deep understanding of California workers’ compensation laws and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in legal research, drafting, and negotiation
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Experience with legal software and case management platforms (e.g., MerusCase)
