Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney

A law firm in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney with 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies. The role requires extensive experience in civil litigation, encompassing drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, managing all facets of discovery and discovery motion practice, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court. Experience in business development, client management, and independent case management is preferred. Excellent academic credentials and superior research and writing skills are essential.

Duties:

• Analyze and interpret insurance coverage issues related to professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies.
• Handle insurance coverage disputes and reinsurance matters, providing strategic legal advice and representation.
• Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery requests.
• Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including preparing and responding to discovery motions, conducting depositions, and addressing discovery disputes.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and other legal matters.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, managing cases from inception through resolution.
• Engage in business development activities to attract and retain clients, expanding the firm’s insurance and reinsurance practice.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to formulate and execute effective case strategies.
• Stay current with industry developments, legal trends, and changes in insurance and reinsurance laws.

Requirements:

• 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
• In-depth understanding of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance.
• Extensive experience in drafting legal documents, managing discovery, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court.
• Preferred experience in business development, client management, and independent case management.
• Excellent academic credentials and demonstrated research and writing skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Pennsylvania State Bar or eligibility to practice in Pennsylvania.
