A law firm seeks a highly skilled Business Litigation Associate to join its San Francisco office. This position is ideal for attorneys with 5-8 years of experience handling complex business disputes, particularly within the construction sector. The firm’s litigation team is renowned for managing high-profile cases in federal and state courts. Duties:

• Manage and represent clients in complex business litigation matters, with a focus on the construction industry
• Take and defend depositions, while handling all aspects of case preparation and strategy
• Provide comprehensive legal counsel on litigation and dispute resolution matters
• Prepare and argue complex motions in both federal and state courts
• Draft detailed legal briefs, memoranda, and other court filings
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to ensure the smooth progression of cases
• Participate in settlement discussions and negotiations to resolve disputes favorably
• Stay informed on changes to civil procedure and litigation trends that may impact cases

Requirements:

• 5-8 years of experience in business litigation, with a preference for construction-related disputes
• Expertise in civil procedure and substantial experience in litigation practice
• Strong deposition experience, with proficiency in taking and defending depositions
• Familiarity with court proceedings and the ability to handle all aspects of a case from start to finish
• California bar admission or eligibility for immediate licensure in California
• Exceptional academic credentials and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience in motion practice and client interaction
• Federal clerkship experience is highly preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active membership in the California State Bar (or eligibility for immediate licensure in California)

• Deep understanding of business litigation, especially in the construction sector
• Expertise in civil procedure and litigation strategy
• Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly in complex legal writing and client presentations
• Ability to manage multiple complex cases efficiently under tight deadlines
• Proficiency in taking and defending depositions, as well as preparing for trial
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
