Job Title: Immigration Attorney
Job Overview:
A law firm based in Austin, TX, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Associate to join its practice focused on humanitarian and family-based immigration matters. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse caseload ranging from deportation defense to naturalization filings, within a team committed to protecting and advancing the rights of immigrants. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in immigration law and demonstrate a high level of empathy and professionalism when working directly with clients navigating complex legal processes.
Duties:
Represent clients in removal proceedings before immigration courts
Prepare and file applications and petitions for adjustment of status, naturalization, asylum, family-based visas, and waivers
Conduct legal research and draft briefs, motions, and supporting documentation
Participate in hearings and interviews before USCIS and EOIR
Advise clients on legal strategy and procedural options
Maintain clear communication with clients throughout case progression
Collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants to ensure timely and effective case management
Stay informed on evolving immigration policies and their practical impact
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing immigration law, particularly removal defense and family-based immigration
Licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar
Proficient in drafting legal documents and conducting client interviews
Familiarity with USCIS and EOIR procedures and timelines
Demonstrated commitment to immigrant advocacy
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in the state of Texas
Skills:
Bilingual fluency (Spanish preferred) strongly desired
Excellent written and oral communication abilities
Strong organizational and case management skills
Compassionate and culturally sensitive approach to client engagement
Ability to manage high-volume caseloads with attention to detail
