Job Overview: A recruiting firm is seeking a Senior Environmental Attorney on behalf of a prominent law firm in Houston. The ideal candidate will possess at least five years of experience in environmental law, including litigation, regulatory compliance, and policy advocacy. This role involves providing legal guidance on a wide range of environmental issues, assisting clients in navigating complex regulatory frameworks, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on environmental compliance, litigation, and policy advocacy.
  • Assist clients in understanding and adhering to local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Manage environmental permitting, reporting, and compliance matters for clients.
  • Conduct environmental due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and real estate transactions to identify potential liabilities.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to long-term environmental use and lease agreements.
  • Represent clients in state and federal court litigation, administrative proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Collaborate with clients to resolve complex environmental issues and mitigate risks.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in environmental law.
  • Proven expertise in litigation, regulatory compliance, and policy matters.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Experience in environmental due diligence for transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
  • Ability to negotiate and draft contracts, particularly those related to environmental issues.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas or eligible for reciprocity.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when assessing environmental risks and drafting contracts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with clients.
