Senior Director, Practice Affairs and Administration
Duties: Develops and implements a support structure for the Divisions and Sections. In collaboration with the Division Heads, he/she will have the responsibility for the practice affairs of each Division, and work to create consistent processes for recruitment, retention, compensation, productivity, among others, across the enterprise. In collaboration with the clinical leadership team, will develop and implement the infrastructure for Multidisciplinary Programs across the enterprise, including the operational, financial, and research support. Oversees provider productivity, professional billing and related revenue-cycle activities. He/she will ensure adherence to policies/processes and work closely with BMG, BGMC, and other system entities to assure centrally provided services (coding, compliance, credentialing, etc.) are meeting expectations. Will be expected to develop, review and monitor physician productivity; evaluate and oversee preparation of reports for the Director, Division Heads, Physician Executives; and recommend action concerning clinical productivity and physician billing activities. Works closely with the Division Head of Research, the Research Operations Director, and all the Division Heads and Section Chiefs to broaden the Cancer Center’s research portfolio and to increase the number of accruals to therapeutic trials, while maintaining financial viability. will be the senior administrator research related affairs at BMDACC and will work closely with the leadership of Banner Research and MDA Research in Houston. In close collaboration with the HR Business Partner, and BH HR leadership, will ensure that the hiring and development processes for providers and staff are appropriate to support the Cancer Center. He/she will oversee the recruitment, orientation and professional development of new providers and staff. must understand and implement the varied policies and procedures for physicians, staff, and other personnel. This requires close interaction with BMG, Physician Recruitment, and Legal, and uniformity within the Divisions and Sections of the Cancer Center. Works closely with the Division Heads and Physician Executives to develop operating goals and secure the resources to achieve their goals. In doing so, he/she will collaborate effectively and transparently with the key stakeholders external to the Cancer Center (e.g., Banner Hospitals; Banner Divisions; and Banner medical groups). will partner with the CFOs of the various system hospitals to optimize the finances of BMDACC in each region. Operationally, will work closely with the Director and CEO to manage the operational/administrative affairs of the Center, including conducting on-going, in-depth analysis of the operational functioning of the Center and developing and implementing new or amended procedures where needed. The Deputy Director will work to develop quantitative metrics to measure productivity and to determine appropriate compensation levels based on appropriate benchmarks and data, including continued implementation of an objective plan for compensation including incentive-based compensation. Produces results that meet or exceed identified strategic and operational targets through leadership. Assures performance in clinical operations, financial, human resources and quality outcomes meet or exceed established targets. Directs and provides oversight to the management of clinical operations, quality and safety programs, and nursing practice with a focus on results and the evaluation of outcomes data. Leads the effective management of human resources to include staff turnover and retention outcomes and staff satisfaction. In collaboration with the hospital COO and/or designee, will manage clinical, research and administrative space planning and will coordinate the support services necessary to ensure the operation of the sections’ facilities. Will work collaboratively with physicians and staff to assure equipment is appropriate, as technology and market needs change.
