Job Overview:
A top-tier law firm is seeking an Employment & Labor Associate with 3–6 years of experience to join its San Francisco office. This position offers a unique opportunity to advise venture capital and investment firms on employment-related legal matters within the VC ecosystem. The ideal candidate will bring strong counseling experience, a working knowledge of employment agreements, and a proactive approach to client collaboration. Experience with employment litigation is a plus but not required.

Location:

• San Francisco, California

Duties:

• Advise venture capital and investment firms on employment-related legal issues

• Collaborate with the fund formation team to support fund clients on labor and employment matters

• Draft and review employment agreements, offer letters, severance packages, and other related documents

• Provide guidance on employment best practices, compliance, and workplace policies

• Support clients with employment-related due diligence for transactions and investments

• Assist with occasional employment litigation or disputes as needed

Requirements:

• 3–6 years of experience in employment and labor law

• Experience counseling employers in the venture capital or investment space preferred

• Familiarity with the venture capital ecosystem strongly desired

• Strong work ethic and motivation with the ability to manage multiple clients and projects

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in the state of California (or eligibility to obtain admission)

Skills:

• Strong legal research and analytical abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• High attention to detail and ability to manage complex client needs

• Strong drafting skills, particularly in employment agreements and policies

• Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams
