Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Debt Defense Associate Attorney to represent consumers in debt collection matters remotely. The attorney will provide legal defense throughout all stages of litigation, manage multiple cases, negotiate settlements, and maintain client communication.

Duties

• Draft legal pleadings and respond to motions and court filings.
• Review and analyze legal documents and client-provided materials.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel.
• Attend court hearings via telephone, Zoom, or in person.
• Manage multiple cases and ensure compliance with deadlines.
• Coordinate with paralegals and legal assistants.
• Maintain accurate case files and documentation.
• Perform administrative responsibilities and case management.
• Communicate effectively with clients and court personnel.
• Provide timely updates to clients on case progress.
• Attend weekly department meetings.
• Escalate complex matters to the Team Lead or Managing Attorney.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Florida Civil Rules and Procedure.
• Experience with Clio preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a high-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education

• Juris Doctorate and a license to practice law in Florida.

Certifications

• License to practice law in the state of Florida.
