A law firm seeks a highly motivated Oil and Gas Title Attorney to join their team. This full-time position is available for remote work, with opportunities for hybrid arrangements if located near offices in Houston, Columbus, Lafayette, Midland, San Antonio, or Oklahoma City. The role involves providing timely and accurate legal solutions to clients in the oil and gas industry.

Duties

  • Conduct title examinations to determine ownership of oil and gas properties.
  • Analyze documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts to establish ownership rights.
  • Draft title opinions highlighting defects, liens, or issues affecting property ownership.
  • Perform due diligence for oil and gas transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
  • Provide guidance on legal risks and strategies for mitigating issues in transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with laws.
  • Stay updated on relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys if legal action is necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to execute complex legal transactions.
  • Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours.
  • Actively pursue continuous learning opportunities.
  • Support other activities and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license.
  • At least three years of experience drafting title opinions in Oklahoma.
  • Familiarity with preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships.
  • Exceptional commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Passion for professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Active law license.
