A reputable immigration law firm based in Manassas, Virginia is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join its legal team. Represent clients in Immigration Court and local Family Courts, particularly in Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) matters
Prepare clients for interviews before USCIS, Department of State (DOS), and the Asylum Office
Provide legal representation for detained and non-detained clients seeking relief including:
Asylum
Withholding of removal
Protection under the Convention Against Torture
SIJS
Cancellation of removal
U-visas and T-visas
Waivers of inadmissibility
Employment authorization
Represent clients before USCIS and in state courts for custody and SIJS hearings
Evaluate potential clients for eligibility for legal relief
Stay up-to-date on current immigration laws and policy developments
Supervise and train support staff on legal practices and procedures
Oversee administrative aspects of filings with support from legal assistants
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state (Virginia Bar preferred)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in immigration law
Demonstrated oral and written advocacy skills
Strong case management and organizational abilities
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
Spanish language proficiency (written and spoken) is a plus
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required
Active bar admission in any U.S. state (Virginia preferred)
Deep understanding of immigration law and procedures
Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills
Litigation experience before Immigration Courts
Experience conducting client interviews and preparing clients for USCIS appearances
Ability to lead, train, and collaborate with support staff
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is an advantage
