Job Overview

A respected regional law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its litigation team. This full-time position is based out of Reading, PA, with flexibility for hybrid remote work. The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of litigation experience, particularly in the areas of auto liability, third-party claims, UM/UIM, bad faith, and first-party insurance defense. The firm provides optional mentorship and trial opportunities, offering an excellent environment for both seasoned and growth-minded attorneys.

Duties

• Handle a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through trial or settlement

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal correspondence

• Represent clients at hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and trials

• Conduct legal research and develop case strategy

• Communicate effectively with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel

• Ensure timely compliance with litigation deadlines

• Participate in mentorship opportunities and training programs as desired

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience

• Prior experience in insurance defense, particularly auto liability and first/third-party claims

• Familiarity with Pennsylvania court rules and procedures

• Ability to manage a busy caseload independently

• Willingness to collaborate with other attorneys across multiple office locations

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Pennsylvania

• Member in good standing with the Pennsylvania Bar

Skills

• Strong legal writing and research capabilities

• Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation skills

• Highly organized with attention to detail

• Capable of handling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines

• Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative legal team
