Trademark Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks a Trademark Attorney for their Detroit office. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, with 5-10 years of experience preferred. The candidate should possess excellent client relationship management skills, trademark prosecution experience, and proficiency in trademark-related litigation.

Duties:

• Cultivate and generate new client relationships
• Manage new and existing client relationships
• Conduct trademark availability searches using U.S. and international databases
• Prepare and prosecute U.S. trademark applications and related documents
• Prosecute international trademarks via Madrid Protocol and Paris Convention
• Manage brand policing efforts and handle trademark watch notices
• Handle TTAB actions and correspond with foreign associates
• Assist with trademark-related litigation in state and federal courts
• Complete Post-Registration Maintenance including Declarations of Use and Incontestability
• Design and implement processes to enhance efficiency
• Handle domain name registrations, transfers, and UDRP actions
• Maintain trademark-related docket system

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia or state of Michigan and the USPTO
• 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney (5-10 years preferred)
• Superior intellect and quick grasp of complex legal issues
• Strong work ethic and organizational skills
• Proficiency in online legal research services and resources
• Excellent legal writing and oral communication skills
