A Los Angeles-based law firm is seeking a motivated Immigration Litigation Associate to join its removal defense team. This role provides the opportunity to engage directly in high-impact representation before immigration courts and related forums. The ideal candidate will bring practical experience in EOIR proceedings and a passion for defending the rights of immigrant communities. Provide legal counsel and develop case strategies for individuals navigating removal proceedings
Represent both detained and non-detained clients in hearings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
Conduct legal intake with detained individuals at detention facilities
Draft, review, and file immigration petitions and legal documents, including family-based and removal defense applications
Conduct strategic consultations and advise clients on case merits and legal options
Collaborate with fellow attorneys and legal support staff to manage a varied caseload efficiently
Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and USCIS interviews
Draft legal briefs and supporting documentation tailored to each client’s case
Engage with external stakeholders, including law enforcement and community organizations, regarding immigration policy updates
Stay informed of legal developments affecting immigration law and court procedures
1-5 years of experience in immigration litigation or removal defense
Demonstrated ability to independently manage case files and court schedules
Willingness to travel to detention centers for client meetings as required
Comfortable handling both defensive and affirmative immigration cases
Strong written and oral advocacy skills
Commitment to client service and culturally competent representation
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Good standing with the relevant State Bar
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal abilities
Proficiency in immigration-focused case management software (preferred but not required)
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
