Job Title: Immigration Attorney - EOIR

Job Overview:

A Los Angeles-based law firm is seeking a motivated Immigration Litigation Associate to join its removal defense team. This role provides the opportunity to engage directly in high-impact representation before immigration courts and related forums. The ideal candidate will bring practical experience in EOIR proceedings and a passion for defending the rights of immigrant communities. Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and develop case strategies for individuals navigating removal proceedings

  • Represent both detained and non-detained clients in hearings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Conduct legal intake with detained individuals at detention facilities

  • Draft, review, and file immigration petitions and legal documents, including family-based and removal defense applications

  • Conduct strategic consultations and advise clients on case merits and legal options

  • Collaborate with fellow attorneys and legal support staff to manage a varied caseload efficiently

  • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and USCIS interviews

  • Draft legal briefs and supporting documentation tailored to each client’s case

  • Engage with external stakeholders, including law enforcement and community organizations, regarding immigration policy updates

  • Stay informed of legal developments affecting immigration law and court procedures

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in immigration litigation or removal defense

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage case files and court schedules

  • Willingness to travel to detention centers for client meetings as required

  • Comfortable handling both defensive and affirmative immigration cases

  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills

  • Commitment to client service and culturally competent representation

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Certifications:

  • Good standing with the relevant State Bar

Skills:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal abilities

  • Proficiency in immigration-focused case management software (preferred but not required)

  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
