Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney

A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking an Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney with 2 to 6 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of insurance coverage issues related to professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies. They should possess substantial civil litigation experience, including drafting legal documents, handling discovery, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court. Preferred candidates will also have experience in business development, client management, and managing cases independently. The role requires excellent academic credentials and superior research and writing skills.

Duties:

• Provide expert legal advice and representation on insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies.
• Manage and oversee complex insurance and reinsurance disputes from inception to resolution.
• Draft and prepare legal documents, such as pleadings, dispositive motions, and other litigation materials.
• Handle all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, managing document production, and resolving discovery disputes.
• Conduct depositions, represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and other legal matters.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic legal advice and managing cases independently.
• Engage in business development activities to contribute to the firm’s growth and client base expansion.
• Collaborate with colleagues on case strategies and legal solutions.
• Stay updated on current developments in insurance and reinsurance law and regulations.

Requirements:

• 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
• In-depth understanding of insurance coverage issues under professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies.
• Proven experience in drafting pleadings, managing discovery, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court.
• Preferred experience in business development, client management, and independent case management.
• Excellent academic credentials with strong research and writing skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar or eligibility to practice in Illinois.
