Profile

A law firm is seeking a skilled Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to assist in all phases of commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will have experience in both state and federal court proceedings, excellent academic credentials, and proficiency in handling complex litigation matters. This role involves extensive responsibilities from discovery to trials and appeals, with opportunities for professional development and advancement.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all phases of commercial litigation, including declaratory judgment and bad faith actions.
  • Conduct written discovery and manage document productions.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Draft motions, including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, and motions in limine.
  • Prepare pre-trial filings and participate in trials and appeals.
  • Manage class action matters and analyze financial documents when necessary.
  • Negotiate settlements and resolutions with opposing counsel.
  • Handle multiple priorities and tasks in a timely and professional manner.

 

Requirements:

  • Current New York (NY) Bar admission in good standing is required.
  • 3+ years of experience working on commercial and contract disputes, employment, directors and officers, and/or real estate and securities actions.
  • Experience in both state and federal court proceedings.
  • Experience managing class action matters and understanding financial documents is a plus.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Active New York (NY) Bar admission in good standing.

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and e-discovery platforms.
  • Excellent writing, research, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
