First Assistant Clerk
The candidate acts as a working supervisor for major programs including criminal matters. Receives general direction from a Chief Clerk or other employee of higher grade. Leads/supervises assistant clerks, temporary assistant clerks, clerical, and other staff as assigned. Coordinates office workflow and determines priorities. Schedules, assigns, oversees, and reviews the work of staff. Reviews, evaluates, and processes the more complex files, motions, orders and judgments in civil, criminal, and family areas presented by attorneys and pro se parties. Monitors compliance with applicable statutes, case law and rules of court. Schedules pre-trial and trial calendars. Notifies parties of case status and court decisions. May assist with case flow management. Assumes responsibility for monitoring civil, criminal, and family assignment lists. May establish and maintain office procedures. Provides staff training and assistance. Conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations. Acts as a liaison with other operating units, agencies, and outside officials regarding office policies and procedures. Performs the full range of duties as outlined in the Assistant Clerk, Judicial District, specification. May act for supervisor in supervisor's absence. May supervise staff. Performs related duties as required.
