This role:
You will join our established Corporate & Commercial team of five lawyers that has consistently been recommended in both Chambers UK and The Legal 500 for many years and works closely with colleagues in our specialist Employment, Dispute Resolution, Commercial Property, Planning & Environmental Law and Private Client teams, amongst others.
We enjoy a reputation for providing trusted and highly effective legal services to clients in the charity, education and not for profit sectors, ranging from national and local charities to prominent universities and independent schools.
You will be a specialist Charities lawyer (preferably with a commercial law background), working at or close to senior associate or partner level at a reputable firm and experienced in advising on the formation and incorporation of charities, mergers, collaborations and joint ventures, advising senior management teams, boards of governors and trustees and providing training, drafting and reviewing commercial contracts and agreements (including fundraising agreements), and advising on data protection and wider charity law and education related matters.
You will have entrepreneurial instincts and spirit and be used to collaborating closely with colleagues across a range of disciplines, clients, other firms and advisers and the Charity Commission. You will be well connected professionally and adept at networking and driving business development.
You will be motivated by the chance to help develop and grow this practice area in a leading firm and to play an active and influential role within the wider firm.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing an agreed caseload of clients in conjunction with the Department Manager
Processing clients’ cases on a timely and cost effective basis
Maintaining the highest professional standards in accordance with the firm’s objectives and comply with the firm’s quality standards
Successfully developing a network of clients and referrers, supporting our firm’s business development and networking activities
Keeping clients fully informed of the range of services that the firm offers
Supervising junior staff, particularly trainees, from time to time
The successful candidate will:
Have at least a 2.1 degree
Have a minimum of 5 years’ PQE
Have completed training at a recognised and respected firm
Be well connected professionally and adept at networking and driving business development
Be enthusiastic and hard working
Have good written and verbal communication skills
Be a team player and reputable
