Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Special Counsel in Washington, DC to support HIPAA, privacy, cybersecurity, AI, digital health, and related data work at the intersection of health regulatory counseling and corporate transactions.

Duties

• Manage and execute diligence processes for privacy and cybersecurity risk.
• Advise on regulatory and compliance implications.
• Draft and negotiate privacy, security, and data-related provisions.
• Support compliance program development.
• Assist clients with technology contracting and vendor risk issues.
• Collaborate with partners, associates, clients, and cross-disciplinary teams.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant experience in privacy, cybersecurity, AI, digital health, or related fields.
• Experience advising on compliance with major privacy and data protection frameworks.
• Familiarity with HIPAA/privacy compliance and AI governance frameworks.
• Experience with privacy and cybersecurity aspects of M&A and private equity transactions.
• Ability to manage workstreams independently and prioritize responsibilities.

Education

• JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to or eligible for admission to the MA, NY, or DC Bar.
• CIPP or other IAPP certifications are a plus.
